Application of Dairy Effluents to Pastures Affects Soil Nitrogen Dynamics and Microbial Activity

نویسندگان

چکیده

The use of farm dairy effluents (FDE) has become a promising alternative to increase pasture yield while reducing the environmental impact waste accumulation into streams, but other implications should be considered. present study aimed assess effect application either raw FDE or lagoon-stored compared dissolved urea non-amended control on N2O emission, soil N dynamics, functional microbial activity, and N-use efficiency fescue pasture. normalized rate 200 kg ha−1 was divided four seasonal events in greenhouse experiment. Similar forage production with positioned as an disposal. repeated effluent delivered more organic C which induced enzyme activities, shift catabolic activity community, greater mineralization potential. On hand, addition decreased community. However, emissions were for effluent, so is manage under these conditions, avoiding enhancing metabolic activity.

Determining critical nitrogen application rates to reduce nitrate leaching in dairy pastures

Over the past decade, there has been a rapid increase in dairy farming in New Zealand. Nitrate leaching from intensive agricultural systems, e.g. dairy farms, is suspected to cause increased nitrate concentrations in ground and surface waters. The objective of this research programme was to determine nitrate leaching losses on dairy pasture systems as affected by the application of dairy shed e...

Modeling soil microbial dynamics in carbon and nitrogen cycling

Goal To determine the relative importance of different mechanisms that influence carbon loss from soil under variable soil-moisture conditions. The soil contains more carbon than the atmosphere and plants combined (Scurlock and Hall 1998). This carbon is important for maintaining soil fertility, controlling erosion, and the long-term storage of carbon that could be released into the atmosphere....

Depth of nitrogen fertiliser placement affects nitrogen accumulation, translocation and nitrate-nitrogen content in soil of rainfed wheat

A field experiment was conducted to examine the effects of different depths ofnitrogen (N) fertiliser placements on N accumulation, remobilisation and NO3−-Ncontent in soil of rainfed wheat. Nitrogen was applied on the surface (D1) and inthe 10 cm (D2), 20 cm (D3) and 30 cm (D4) soil layers from 2010 to 2012.Compared with D1 and D2, D3 and D4 treatments obtained significant higher Ndistribution...

construction and validation of translation metacognitive strategy questionnaire and its application to translation quality

like any other learning activity, translation is a problem solving activity which involves executing parallel cognitive processes. the ability to think about these higher processes, plan, organize, monitor and evaluate the most influential executive cognitive processes is what flavell (1975) called “metacognition” which encompasses raising awareness of mental processes as well as using effectiv...

Nitrogen starvation affects bacterial adhesion to soil

One of the main factors limiting the bioremediation of subsoil environments based on bioaugmentation is the transport of selected microorganisms to the contaminated zones. The characterization of the physiological responses of the inoculated microorganisms to starvation, especially the evaluation of characteristics that affect the adhesion of the cells to soil particles, is fundamental to antic...
